2017 Teen Girls Retreat
The Teen Girls’ Retreat was held at Camp Summers & Manget on March 31—April 2. Twenty teen girls and twenty-one workers gathered together for a great weekend of girl time! The retreat was sponsored by the Eastern Conference Woman’s Missionary Society.
The teen girls and ladies enjoyed a great weekend together. The meals and snacks were wonderful! Everyone enjoyed spending time together around the table. The Dining Hall was beautifully decorated with flowers, balloons, and banners. The girls enjoyed playing games together and getting to know one another. Each night, the girls had devotions together in their cabins.
The theme for the weekend was Indescribable Joy based on I Peter 1:8. There were four sessions of praise and worship and Bible teaching. The songs focused our minds for our teaching time. The girls were challenged as to where they were looking for joy, how to maintain their joy, counting it all joy, and displaying joy in how they relate to others. The girls were given a trinket for each session to remind them of the truths learned. The speaker for the weekend was Deborah Westbury.
Thank you to all of the WMS ladies who worked hard to make the retreat a success. Many donated paper products, food, time, and more! Many hands made for light work.

2015 Teen Girls Retreat
The Eastern Conference Woman’s Missionary Society and Youth Ministries sponsored a Teen Girls’ Retreat at Camp Summers & Manget on April 17-18. The theme for the weekend was “You are beYOUtiful” based on Psalm 139:14b, “…for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”‘
The speaker for the weekend was Mary Goodwin Watts of the Turbeville Southern Methodist Church. Mary did a great job reminding the girls that they were loved by God, that they were called by God, and that they needed to step up for God. She used the illustration of God using Esther, an ordinary girl, to do extraordinary things for His glory. She encouraged the girls that they were fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14) and that they were created for such a time as this (Esther 4:14).
Other activities enjoyed during the retreat included a skit by Ms. Rose Kelly, manicures, making cards, a photo booth, and getting to know one another. There were twenty-two teen girls at the retreat and around fifteen workers. The retreat chairman was Mrs. Rose Kelly.
Many thanks to the countless WMS ladies who worked hard to make the retreat a great success. Many prayed for the retreat, donated food, donated time, sponsored girls, and more! The Teen Girls’ Retreat is always a beautiful picture of one generation intentionally investing into the next generation for the cause of Christ.
